Bangalore, Dec 5: Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has decided to set up its helicopter training school in Bangalore next fiscal. The school will train on two-seater piston engine and turbine engine helicopter.The shortage of trained personnel in this field has prompted the company to begin a centre which is expected to attract students from both the country and abroad.Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Aero India '98 convenor K Ramchand said: ``Aeronautical Society of India is planning to open a aerospace museum and park in Bangalore in the year 2000.'' The project is being put up with an initial capital of Rs 5 crore which will be augmented later in association with major corporates. Targeting the tourists, the museum will also provide simulator games to students.
To commemorate the golden jubilee celebration of Aeronautical Society of India, the agency will prepare a video documentary on ``The saga of aviation in India from 1948-98'' and it will be telecasted on DD. The celebration isslated to be kicked off from Januray 15 in New Delhi.
Ramchand said that an I-Max theatre in line with Kennady space centre in also being planned. Modalities to fund these projects is still being worked out.
HAL chairman C G Krishnadas Nair said the company is planning to develop an intermediate jet trainer which will replace Kiran Mark II.
