Prestige Spain, TTK may join hands for export deal

K Baburajan
Bangalore, Dec 3: Prestige Spain is looking at the country to source new generation cookware. The company is close to joining hands with TTK Prestige Ltd, Bangalore, to procure pressure cookers and cookware on original equipment manufacturer basis.

Hitherto, the export strategy of TTK Prestige was to enter into alliances and supply to huge departmental stores abroad. However, for the US market, the company has adopted a different game plan that involves the promotion of products through its wholly-owned outfit--TTK Manttra Inc.

``The proposed partnership with Prestige Spain is a major breakthrough for the TTK group considering the potential of Spanish market,'' a senior company official said.

The company is likely to offer its anodised cookware and 4-in-1 cooking system to Prestige Spain. The new multi-cooking range, which raked in $1 million sales on the first day of its launch in the US market, consists of a pressure cooker, vegetable steamer, pasta basket and a stock pot.

The new generationproducts for the export market, which are slated for launch next year, will be manufactured at the company's two production facilities at Hosur in Chennai. TTK Prestige's third unit is located at Dooravaninagar near Bangalore.

Buoyed by enormous export orders, the company is looking at an annual export revenue of Rs 35 crore this financial year. During the third quarter of the current fiscal, TTK Prestige is likely to report $3 million income from exports.

Looking at the Australian market wherein TTK expects to sell $400,000 worth of goods this fiscal, the company has roped in leading department stores like BigW, KMart, Target and DJs.

The company has also identified Germany and France as the potential markets for substantial growth with the launches there on the cards. ``While we have already appointed Singer as our distributor in Sri Lanka, the company is close to finalising a deal with a partner in Dubai. The alliance with the Dubai trading company will open the gateway to the Middle East,'' companyofficials said.
