Stray incidents mark assembly polls; 60% keep their date with democracy
An estimated 55-60% of the electorate spread over 638 assembly constituencies in the four states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram cast their votes on Wednesday in what is considered to be one of the most keenly watched elections in recent years.

Core sector posts negative growth in October
The infrastructure sector has performed poorly in October, recording a negative growth of (-) 2.4%. According to a review undertaken by the industry ministry, the crude petroleum sector was the worst performer during October, recording a negative growth of (-) 6.4% followed by steel (-) 5.4%, cement (-) 5.0% and coal (-) 1.7%.

Ministry okays infrastructure status for steel sector
In an effort to boost investments in the steel industry and help steel majors renovate their old plants, the ministry of steel has, in-principle, approved the proposal to accord infrastructure status to the sector. The proposal will now go to the ministry of finance for its approval.
