Mumbai, Nov 13: Asia Brown Boveri (ABB) of Germany has introduced a new business strategy in India to focus on the needs of its clientele. The concept, termed as Key Account Management, has been tested in other countries. The strategy provides for a centre point of contact for all queries relating to ABB's operations.Announcing this on Thursday, company director (export marketing) Klus-Juergen Wilhelm said it is important to have a common contact point for a large and diversified group like ABB. This will help not only existing clients but also future partners in coordinating with the company.
Since ABB's operations are multi-faceted and closely related there are occasions when functions of different departments and group companies overlap. It was noticed that on such occasions, locating the right contact was difficult. Thus, three years ago the Key Account Management concept was launched in Germany under which an individual is appointed to act as a single contact point.
The key accounts manager thencoordinates with the various departments and the clients. The number of account manager appointed in a country will depend on the size of company's operations. The concepts helps in attending to the needs of consumers and offering them tailored solutions, say company officials.
The $31-billion international electrical engineering company, ABB focuses primarily on developing systems, manufacturing equipment and providing complete packages for electricity generation, transmission and distribution. With a network of over 1,000 companies ABB is present all over the world. However, in each country it adapts to the requirements of the local markets. The company uses its global strength to benefit and add value to customers in local markets, they added.
ABB India, one of the leading players in electrical engineering, provides integrated electrical engineering solutions through turnkey contracts. The company has around 12 manufacturing units in the country and nearly 25 marketing offices.
ABB's businessactivity in India is divided into three segments, including power generation, power transmission and distribution and industrial and building systems.
