AmSoft signs pact with Malaysian company: Bangalore-based AmSoft Information Services (India) Pvt Ltd has signed a MoU with Suiwah Corporation BHD, a large Malaysian business house based in Penang with extensive interests in super markets, real estate and electronics. The MoU was signed by Dinesh Jain, president and CEO of AmSoft and Dato Ahmad Hassan, director of Suiwah Corporation in Malaysia recently. As per the pact, AmSoft will provide to Suiwah expertise in the field of Executive Information System (EIS). The proposed EIS provides on-line business, analytical and decision support on a real time basis to the business managers by keeping all the distributed systems synchronised across Suiwah's Intranet.

Tajima launches latest machines: Japan-based embroidery machinery specialist Tajima group has launched its latest machines in the Indian market in association with Unity Overseas Pte Ltd, Singapore, its network partner in the region. These include the latest embroidery machines with whatthe company claims ``most number of heads and 15 needles'', the famous Tajima punching systems, advanced monogramming and lettering systems using Windows '95 platform and Tajima DG software capable of creating high-quality designs with high productivity, besides upgraded machines to meet the special needs of the domestic market.

Tata-IBM to launch DB2 Database: Tata-IBM will launch its latest version of DB2 Universal Database, the world's first multimedia, Internet-ready database management system later this month. DB2 Universal Database Management system is powerful enough to meet the demands of large corporations and flexible enough to serve medium-sized and small businesses, claimed a company press release. ``The launch will underscore IBM's commitment to deliver leading edge technology while supporting web-based applications for customers moving to E-business,'' it added. The highlight of the launch will be roadshows in New Delhi and Mumbai in November end.

EuroSmart launched by MicroFocus: Micro Focus India Pvt Ltd has launched EuroSmart, a flexible and accurate inventory, assessment and monetary analysis product that it claims greatly simplifies the Euro enabling process for enterprise applications. ``EuroSmart increases productivity and saves time and money by reducing the manual review process and the dependency on IS and business analysts,'' the company claimed in a press release. It can be used for three critical tasks in a Euro programme: assessment, specification and verification. It is an intelligent product running on the PC workstation that can isolate those financial areas of COBOL applications that will actually need to be modified to accommodate Euro trading, it added.

Bindview from IT Secure: IT Secure, a Mumbai based computer security solutions company, has launched the Bindview Enterprise Management System Software at CN+I 98. Developed by Bindview Development Corporation USA, Bindview is a systems management tool that ensures the security and integrity ofcomplex, distributed client-server networks. It provides a wide range of features including security auditing, system documentation, user server administration, disk space analysis, password, configuration and NLM analysis, software and hardware inventory with Y2K compliance status and extensive reporting, claimed the company. It gives access, analysis management and reporting capabilities for Netware 3.4 and Windows NT from a single interface.

Tektronix launches new printers: The US-based Tektronix Inc has launched four phaser colour printers in India with a broad range of target applications. According to the International Data Corporation, desktop colour laser printers are the fastest growing segment of colour market with a compound annual growth rate of 26 per cent in revenues from 1998 to 2002 and six per cent revenues for black and white. Tektronix colour printers have a global market share of 37 percent, ahead of Hewlett Packard. ``These printers are a continuing proof of Tektronix leadershipin closing the gap between black and white and business colour printing,'' said Robert Stewart, vice-President and general manager of its colour printers and imaging division's pacific operations.
