Bata India reports Rs 2.76cr net in Q3: Bata India Ltd reported a net profit of Rs 2.76 crore for the quarter to September 30, 1998, against Rs 1.48 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net sales during the period increased 17.7 per cent to Rs 170.49 crore from Rs 144.85 crore in the same period last year. The pre-tax profit for the quarter grew 193 per cent to Rs 4.33 crore from Rs 1.48 crore. Interest cost has been reduced by 38 per cent at Rs 2.09 crore from Rs 3.38 crore. Net sales and profit after tax for nine months to September 30, 1998, was at Rs 549.09 crore and Rs 26.45 crore respectively against corresponding sales and PAT of Rs 486.74 crore and Rs 9.83 crore. The company has already made a tax provision of Rs 4.31 crore in the current year against nil last year. The tax provided for in 1997 full year was Rs 0.92 crore and PAT was Rs 16.64 crore on net sales of Rs 670.64 crore.DCM Shriram Industries net at Rs 6 crore: DCM Shriram Industries Ltd has posted a netprofit of Rs 6.19 crore for the half-year ended September, against a loss of Rs 10.78 crore in the same period last year. Gross profit rose to Rs 8.46 crore, against a gross loss of Rs 6.93 crore (excluding extraordinary income)during the corresponding period last year.
Gestetner India net at Rs 0.13 crore: Gestetner (India) Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 0.13 crore on net sales of Rs 12.33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 1998. Cumulative sales up to September was Rs 42.96 crore. Net profit stood at Rs 2.39 crore.
Escorts Finance net plummets: Escorts Finance Ltd has suffered a 50 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 2.33 crore in the first half ended September 30, 1998, against Rs 4.47 crore in the corresponding period of previous year. Total income was down 17 per cent to Rs 65.02 crore. Gross profit after interest but before depreciation and write-offs was lower at Rs 21.96 crore from Rs 30.04 crore.
Jindal Strips nets Rs 29.87cr H1 profit: Jindal Strips Ltd, thecountry's largest stainless steel producer, earned a net profit of Rs 29.87 crore, out of gross sales of Rs 691.85 crore during the first six months of this year. In the whole of last year, Jindal Strips earned a net profit of Rs 73.31 crore, out of a turnover of Rs 1265.73 crore. In the first quarter of this year, the company posted a net profit of Rs 11 crore, out of a turnover of Rs 384.68 crore.
