Banks may follow IT-lending norms
Public-Sector banks are likely to seriously implement the new Reserve Bank of India guidelines on lending to information technology (IT) and computer software companies. Banks are now in the process of identifying new enterprises in this field as potential clients.

EU drops move to take India to WTO on additional import duty
The European Union (EU) has dropped for the time-being its proposed move to drag India to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on the issue of four per cent additional import duty introduced in the budget this year.

RBI to look into sudden spurt in non-food credit
The Reserve Bank of India has decided to probe the sudden spurt in non-food credit growth over the last one month. Non-food credit during the fortnight ended October 9, 1998, has shot up by a whopping Rs 6,512 crore.
