Tata Infotech H1 net jumps to Rs 25 crore

Mumbai, Oct 23: Tata Infotech, the Tata group information technology flagship, has recorded a 42 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 207.55 crore (Rs 146.55 crore the corresponding period the previous year). The net profit of the company increased to Rs 25.4 crore (Rs 11.9 crore).

The systems integration division, the largest operating division within the company, bagged a number of prestigious orders. Some orders bagged in the international market included multiple contracts from north central data cooperative (NCDC) which included application development for a general ledger system and central office equipment and continuing property record; Y2K orders for Banco National de Costa Rica, a large bank in San Jose, Costa Rica and the School District of Philadelphia.

On the domestic front, says a Tata Infotech press release, continuing to make significant strides in the systems integration market, TIL won a SI contract involving supply of servers and nodes, networking and software development for the canteenstores depot of the Indian Navy.

Other orders included a customised software development order from Jagatjit Industries, the sales, implementation, customisation and testing of a Management Information Systems (MIS) product for Maharashtra Small Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC), implementation of BaaN soutions at Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd's Murthal plant and a campus-wide fibre networking order from BhEL-Bhopal among others. The company also tied up with US-based Porta Systems to provide Indian telecommunication companies with integrated telecommunication solutions.
