Hoechst Marion net nosedives to Rs 1.55 crore Hoechst Marion Roussel has posted a 11.36 per cent drop in sales to Rs 98.93 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 1998, against Rs 111.62 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year. Net profits plunged to Rs 1.55 crore, against Rs 10.55 crore in the previous year. Other income for the quarter ended September 30, 1998, includes an item of exceptional income of Rs 3.69 crore. These results do not take into account the figures of Roussel India.
Rallis India net drops marginally to Rs 643 crore:
Rallis India sales have risen to Rs 643.49 crore for the half year ended September 30, 1998, against Rs 614.44 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. However, net profit fell to Rs 16.30 crore from Rs 17.37 crore. Interest for the six months is higher at Rs 24.39 crore because of the non-disbursement of the subsidy by the government. The government has not yet finalised the subsidy on DAP and MOP for the kharifseason. If the BICP norms were to be taken to calculate the subsidy there would be additional recovery of costs incurred on the imports of these fertilisers. Hence the net contribution would be higher.
Abbott Labs sales rise to Rs 25 crore:
Abbott Laboratories (India) Ltd has registered an 18.3 per cent jump in net sales to Rs 25.06 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 1998, over the first quarter. Net profit rose 53.8 per cent to Rs 1 crore in the second quarter. Other income for the period was Rs 7.37 lakh while total expenditure stood at Rs 23.22 crore. The company has not considered amortisation of the balance deferred revenue expenditure (extraordinary expenses) of Rs 9.02 crore, for the quarterly results.
Tanfac Industries sales rise to Rs 32 crore
Tanfac Industries, the Aditya Birla group company, has posted a 25 per cent growth in turnover to Rs 31.89 crore, against Rs 25.55 crore in the same period last year. However, profit before tax, fell 4 per cent toRs 4.12 crore due to the rupee depreciation and additional import duty on fluorspar.
Tisco to announce H1 results on October 29:
Tata Iron & Steel Co has announced that it will declare the financial results for the first half of the current fiscal on October 29.
Aditya Birla group companies results:
The Aditya Birla group has announced that four main group companies will declare their first half results on October 29 and 30. While Hindalco and Indian Rayon will declare their results on October 29, Grasim and Indo-Gulf will announce their's on October 30.
Paper Products enters carton business, expands capacity
Paper Products Ltd has expanded its flexible packaging capacity and entered the carton business with the acquisition of the assets of Thapar group company APR Ltd's A&R packaging unit. Paper Products has acquired the land, building, plant and machinery of the A&R Packaging unit, free from all encumbrances and liabilities. With this acquisition, the company has commencedproduction at the Hyderabad unit. The new unit, located at Bollarum in Andhra Pradesh, will manufacture flexible packaging, cartons and cartoning systems.
Haldyn Glass certification:
Haldyn Glass Gujarat Ltd's 160-tonne per day container manufacturing plant has been awarded the ISO-9002 certificate. The automated plant began commercial production three years ago and installation of the ISO quality system commenced about a year back. The company manufactures clear glass containers mainly for the liquor, cosmetic and food industries. It also caters to the pharmaceutical industry.
SAS Institute organises camp:
SAS Institute India, a leading provider of business solutions using data warehousing and data mining, is at present conducting a Boot Camp in Mumbai. BFL Software to set up sixth software centre:
BFL Software Ltd willset up its sixth software development centre at Koramangala near Bangalore. The company will pump in around Rs 20 crore. The funds for the purpose will be raised internally. President and CEO BV Venkatesh said: "A part of the proposed facility will be dedicated to a partner for undertaking their projects, while other portion will be utilised for the company's developmental activities." The company on Friday inaugurated its fifth dedicated development centre for Compaq Computer Corporation. The new unit with an investment of Rs 5.5 crore will house an expanding team of more than 135 software professionals
