Shanmukhananda Hall to reopen
Our Bureau
Mumbai, Oct 10: The Shanmukhananda Hall will be reopened in the last week of November, which will be inaugurated by president KR Narayanan. The Shanmukhananda Hall, which was devastated by a fire in February 1990, has now been virtually reconstructed. The reconstruction was planned and implemented by IS Kadri with the active co-operation of the trustees and managing committee members. Bharat Ratna C Subramanian is the chairman of the inaugural celebrations committee and governor PC Alexander is the chief of patrons. The re-construction has cost the Sabha about Rs 12 crore, which largely came through donations from various public and private bodies, the central and state governments, banking institutions and philanthropists. Besides the hall, the Shanmukhananda Sabha maintains a well-attended medical centre and a music school (Sangeetha Vidyalaya).Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
