In Rajasthan, SSI units are provided marketing support through exhibition complex- cum- trade centres. It is proposed to set up an integrated exhibition complex - cum - World Trade Centre at Jaipur, just seven km from the upcoming international airport and 250 km away from Delhi.The vast area proposed to be made available for the project can accommodate all facilities like hotels, restaurants, banks, post office, clubs, executive business centres, transport, parking, lawns, pavilions, communication facilities and captive power plant for uninterrupted power supply.
The site is located within the Export Promotion Industrial Park, Jaipur, already developed by Riico.
Along with the exhibition complex, it is also proposed to develop a World Trade Centre similar to the one in Berlin.
The salient features of the proposed World Trade Centre are: Luxurious offices; business service centre; convention hall, amphitheatre to host international conventions and inter-cultural programme; restaurants and coffeeshops; bar facility; well-equipped health club and beauty parlour; computer services station; shopping arcade; continuous power supply; modern facilities of information and communication such as telephone, e-mail, satellite, television; video conference room; meeting rooms; twenty-four hours hot and cold water supply; escalators; lift facilities; laundry; adequate parking space; computerised library with all relevant information; fire protection system, central public reception lounge and administrative office.
The Punjab government reimburses all expansion up to a maximum tender of Rs 10,000.
In Tripura, products of small-scale units are marketed by the DGS&D. The government's assistance programme includes reservation of items for exclusive purchase from small-scale units with simplified proceduresand formalities.
In case of items purchased from small-scale units, price preference up to a maximum of 10 per cent is provided. Small-scale industrialists are exempt from paying registration fee. All typesof registration forms etc. are supplied to them free of cost. Security deposits are also not takenfrom units which are registered with NSIC and whose capacity has been certified by them.
To conclude, marketing support by states provides succour to SSI units, both in the domestic market and/or exports. It indirectly services them in the realisation of sales. Such facilities should exist in all the states to ensure smooth and healthy existence of SSI units.
