Eastman Kodak ties up with Seagate TechEastman Kodak Company and Seagate Technology Inc have formed an alliance to create and refine an improved technology bridge between the advanced photo system (ASP) and a personal computer. The alliance plays directly to the strengths of both companies. Seagate is the world's leading supplier of information storage devices with considerable technological capabilities in global manufacturing, vertical integration and engineering expertise. Kodak is the world's largest imaging company whose work increasingly involves digital technology, combining the power and convenience of electronics with the quality of traditional photography.
HCL Infosystems new facility
HCL Infosystems (HCL Insys) will facilitate `anywhere licensing' for the Delhi government's transport department. Under the contract, HCL Insys will develop and maintain the back-end database and software across all the nine zonal offices. Additionally, it will conduct facilities management withits sister organisation, HCL Perot Systems, for the issuance of driving licences for the department for the initial five years. After all the nine offices are connected, people in Delhi will be able to apply for and get licences from any of the nine zonal offices unlike the present situation wherein they have to go to assigned offices only.
Hughes Software product
Communications software firm Hughes Software Systems Ltd (HSS) has announced the launch of 2ndLook, a web-enabled Intranet product for real time document review. It is part of the company's global Internet applications portfolio and marks the entry of Hughes, a subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, into the world of Internet business. 2ndLook is a software solution which streamlines the document review process and is useful in situations where the preparation of a document requires the collaborative input of several individuals prior to its finalisation, a company release said.
TVS Electronics bags Elcina order
TVS ElectronicsLtd (TVSE) has bagged the first prize from the Electronic Components Industries Association (Elcina) for outstanding achievements in research and Development of 24 wire and 9 wire dot matrix printers during 1997-98 and the MAIT Quality award for its manufacturing processes in the UPS range. The company designs and manufactures a range of peripherals centred around three major product groups, Impact printers, UPS systems and keyboards. The company had posted a profit after tax of Rs 3.02 crore on a turnover of Rs 130.59 crore for fiscal 1997-98.
Naiknavare & Associates housing scheme
The Pune-based Naiknavare & Associates announced a housing scheme for flats of 285 sq ft and 325 sq ft in the Vadgaonsheri area on the Pune-Ahmednagar road. The prices of these flats range between from Rs 1.91 lakh and Rs 2.58 lakh, with rates lower by Rs 50 per square foot, director Hemant Naiknavaresaid.
Reliance Systems, Sun Microsytems enter pact
Reliance Systems Pvt Ltd has entered into a strategicalliance with Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd to offer Java certification training. Sun's authorised Java centres of training represent a comprehensive set of services designed to guide customers through the process of evaluation of Java technology into development for enterprise-wide Java technology solutions. "With the tie-up we are aiming to provide skilled and certified personnel to the IT industry. We estimate that the number of Java technology developers will grow from 7.5 lakh to 12 lakh by 1999," Reliance Systems managing director V Ramakrishna said.
