Five major airlines form global "Oneworld" alliance to rival STAR
Five major international airlines announced a global alliance on Monday under the brand name "oneworld" to rival the existing Star alliance. British Airways Plc, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Canadian Airlines and Qantas announced the link up in London, promising improved service and efficiency benefits but no adverse effect on fares.
Bill Gates is not the richest American of all time: Survey
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates may be the richest American now, but a new study finds that Gates ranks only No 5 on the list of the richest men throughout the US history. The survey by American Heritage, a magazine published by Forbes Inc., found that the great titans of American industry John D Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt and John Jacob Astor had amassed far greater wealth when compared to the size of the US economy of their time.
Youth hostel stamp has global relevance
Special stamps were released as India's Golden Jubilee celebrations came to a close recently. These stamps are a homage to the mass movements which led to a free India. The stamp with the unfurled "tiranga" over Red Fort and charkha symbol of freedom struggle in denomination of Rs 3 represents Independence Day.Another stamp in the denomination of Rs 8 depicts India's achievements in post-Independence years.
