MTV back to musical roots, with '90s twist
MTV has refocused on its music roots, helping its ratings and relations with the $40 billion music industry, but gone are the days when videos on the music network set the pace in the business. The rejigging in programming appears to have paid off for MTV, which has seen its ratings surge.
Puja on the Net is a click away
Computer Associates TCG Software Pvt Ltd, the Calcutta-based joint venture between Computer Associates International and the Chatterjee group, plans to put the forthcoming Durga Puja on the Internet in collaboration with Thema Tech. The website will be available from September 20, for two months after the Pujas, beyond the Kali Puja and Diwali.
"Pugree" not the basis of all rent transactions
Mumbai has been living with antiquated rent control laws since the early '40s and the Rent Control Act enacted in 1958 did not help the cause of owners who were allowed a one-time rent increase of 10%. Despite directions from the Supreme Court of India to the Maharashtra government to enact and enforce a balanced Rent Act by March 31, 1998, the state government decided to allow landlords a meagre 5% increase in their rents.
