Pharma industry seeks ministry help to lift export ban on new molecules
Leading domestic drug bodies, the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association and the Bulk Drug Manufacturers'Association have sought the Union commerce ministry's intervention in lifting the ban on the export of new drug molecules. The bar on export of new molecules, yet to be approved in the country, may see the domestic drug industry lose international business worth Rs 100 crore in a span of three months.
Sinha promises relief to revive sentiment
Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, who has been on an "economy darshan" tour for the last four weeks, will shortly unveil a package of measures that is expected to bring back the small investor into the stock market and revive business confidence in the country.
Cement industry continues to reel under depression
The cement industry continues to remain gripped by an acute depression as production plunged to 5.85 million tonnes in August, from 6.11 million tonnes the previous month. Demand for cement during the monsoons scale down to very low levels and producers deliberately cut production to maintain the price line, according to analysts.
