New Delhi, Sept 8: The power ministry has sanctioned an amount of Rs 33.54 crore to the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for initiating the pre-construction infrastructure development work of its two projects in Bihar and Manipur.This amount which forms part of the budgetary support to NHPC is for the Rs 2,433.30 crore, 710 mw Koel Karo project in Bihar and for the Rs 648.02 crore, 90 mw Loktak downstream project in Manipur. Both these projects form part of a number of projects which have been identified for start of construction and to be completed in the tenth plan period.
The nodal ministry has recently sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the Chamera stage-II project in Himachal Pradesh for undertaking similar pre-construction work.
