NEW DELHI, Aug 24: The department of telecommunications has decided toengage marketing agents to popularise value-added services (VAS), besidesaccelerating the development of other services.The scheme has initially beenstarted in Delhi, Calcutta and the states of Maharashtra and Tamil Naduexcept Mumbai and Chennai.The five services to be marketed are the INET (intelligent network), HVNET(high speed VSAT network), RAVMAN (remote area business message network),ISDN (integrated services digital network) and Internet (TCP/IP).
An official release said DoT had relied on its in-house marketing cell forthe services.
With the rising demand for the services, the department will now allowgraduates from recognised universities, marketing agencies/companies dealingin information technology products to be agents in this category.
