Weiler International Electronics Pvt Ltd (WIE), a Rs 45-million turnover company formed in January 1998 following the takeover of the electronics division of UB Engineering Ltd by DM 20-million Digisound Electronics Gmbh, Germany, is planning to launch a world-class acoustic product in India, called `Siren Dixi'.
According to G P S Gandhi, regional manager, WEI, "This is the only siren being manufactured in India conforming to environmental provisions as per the German standard (VDS) and European standard (CE)."
Dixi siren is the latest among a wide range of acoustic products introduced by the company in India. The range includes piezo buzzers, beepers, multi-function warning sirens, alarms, telephone ringers, miniature loudspeakers and receivers.
These acoustic products find ready applications in sectors like telecommunications, automotive industry, medical equipment, household appliances, safety appliances and so on.
Dixi siren is considered "world class" and will have high utility in the security and safety systems of both the industrial and household sectors.
The company has set up its production base near Pune. It is planning to get into export business, with the European market being identified as the target destination area.
The company also boasts of a rich clientele that includes Alcatel, Ericsson, BMW, Siemens, Volkswagen, Mercedes and others.
Gandhi states that "the combination of quality production capacity and designing strength of Indian engineers strongly backed by the most advanced German technology will make WIE a force to reckon with in the world acoustic markets."
WID also supplies buzzers to the manufactures of telephony, pagers, washing machine, mobile phones etc.
