New Delhi, Aug 21: Vijay Kelkar took over as new finance secretary on Friday. He replaces Montek Singh Ahluwalia who was sifted to the Planning Commission as member. Till recently chairman of the Tariff Commission, Kelkar has also worked as petroleum secretary.As secretary in the petroleum ministry, he played an important role in ushering in the reform process by laying a time table for dismantling APM for petroleum products. With Kelkar assuming office, the ministry has new faces in all departments.
Revenue secretary Javed A Choudhury took office early this week replacing N K Singh.
Expenditure secretary EAS Sarma joined a month ago in place of C Ramachandran who went to the ADB.
