Patna high court directive to Bihar govt on T&D losses 

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
PATNA, July 14: The Patna high court on Tuesday directed the Bihar government to investigate into the misleading translation of a gazette notification related to taxation which resulted in the loss of several crores of rupees to the state exchequer since 1984. The court further directed the government to reopen the cases against the dealers, manufacturers and industries which derived benefit out of the incorrect English translation of the notification in Hindi. The court also directed the government to recover the loss within six months.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice B M Lal and Justice S K Singh issued the directive after dismissing a writ petition filed by Steel City Beverage Pvt Ltd. The company had challenged the order of the commercial tax tribunal by which its claim for of tax relief in respect of purchase of raw materials from outside Bihar was denied.
