Sampath Bank of Sri Lanka to replace banking system with Bancs2000
Our Bureau
Bangalore, July 13: Sampath Bank, one of Sri Lanka's leading commercial banks, has decided to replace its existing mainframe-based banking application system with Bancs2000, the web-enabled banking solution from Infosys Technologies Ltd (ITL).``To support our expanding operations and initiatives for the new millennium, we reviewed several banking software packages. We believe that Bancs2000 from Infosys best fits our needs. The decision to change from the erstwhile centrally-driven system to a clustered open systems solution from Infosys was three-pronged. Service for customers, keeping pace with technology changes and lastly a solution that was Y2K compatible were the main reasons why we opted for Infosys,'' said Kumar Abayanayaka, chief executive officer, Sampath Bank. Web-enabled banking was one of the value additions that we were looking for in a software package. This was in concurrence to our business philosophy of ``adding value to banking services. The availability of local support through ITL'sbusiness partner, the Colombo-based Millennium Information Technologies Ltd (MIT), was another key factor in choosing Bancs2000,'' said Abayanayaka.
