Freight rates for nine-tonners are likely to increase marginally in the coming week, according to transporters.In the last week, truck rates showed a mixed trend with several instances of rates moving up and going down for different cities in the same state. For example, the freight rates from Mumbai to Amaravati dipped by Rs 200 to Rs 4,800 but rates to Nashik increased by Rs 400 to Rs 2,900.
In the northern sector, freight rates picked up for Jammu & Kashmir. Rates from Mumbai to Srinagar went up by Rs 1,700 to Rs 23,200.
In the last week, truck rates to Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar moved in a narrow band. Mumbai-Delhi rates remained stable at Rs 12,500 while rates to Punjab saw a jump ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000.In the western region, except for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the truck rates strengthen by Rs 100 to Rs 500 during last week. The freight rates from Mumbai to Surat and Kandla increased by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,900 and Rs 5,300, respectively.
The rates to Indoredeclined by Rs 300 to Rs 4,300. The Mumbai to Jaipur rates too declined by Rs 300 to Rs 8,000.
In the east, there was more than four per cent jump in the truck rates. The Mumbai to Guwahati increased by Rs 1,000 to Rs 26,500. The rates to Calcutta went up by Rs 500 to Rs 17,300 while freight rates to Cuttack increased to Rs 12,000.
In the south, rates to Andhra Pradesh witnessed the maximum jump. The Mumbai to Vijayawada went up by Rs 2,200 to Rs 7,600, marking a 40 per cent increase. The rates to Vizag and Hyderabad increased by Rs 1,000 to Rs 9,500 and Rs 6,300.
While truck rates to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu remained static, the rates to Kerala moved up in the range of Rs 200 to Rs 500.
