TOKYO, July 8: Nippon Piston Ring Co said on Wednesday it would extend its cooperation with US car parts producer Dana Corp on the development and sale of cylinder linings. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun had reported earlier on Wednesday the Japanese firm had agreed a new cylinder lining tie-up with Dana, but a Nippon Piston spokesman the agreement was merely an extension of existing cooperation.Nippon Piston already worked with Dana to supply cylinderlinings for V-6 engines to a Toyota Motor Corp venture in the United States, the spokesman said.
The two companies now planned to cooperate to develop, produce and sell cylinder linings to several European manufacturing units of Japanese carmakers, he said.
Nippon Piston and Dana were also already collaborating on the development of similar components to supply to the US units of Japanese carmakers, the spokesman said.
