Hindustan Shipyard all set to chart a new course
The inordinate delay in the implementation of its financial restructuring programme and the proposed joint venture with Norwegian shipping giant Kvaerneri notwithstanding, Hindustan Ship Yard (HSL) has charted an ambitious plan to pull itself out of the rough seas. HSL's chairman and managing director Rear Admiral RM Bhatia has put in place an aggressive strategy for a new marketing set-up, a foray into hi-tech ship building and shedding of flab apart from hinting at the possibility of forming product-specific joint ventures in the coming months.
Atherton signs pact with Swiss firm
Mustad Hoofcare SA of Switzerland, part of the $500-million Mustad International group of the Netherlands, has signed an agreement with Atherton Engineering Co Pvt Ltd of Calcutta for setting up a joint venture company at the Falta Export Processing Zone in West Bengal. This is the second production utility of the group in Asia, the first one being at Istanbul in Turkey.
NFL plans to raise capacity at Bhatinda, Panipat units
National Fertilisers (NFL), a public sector unit, has decided to take up the construction of the Bhatinda and Panipat projects simultaneously. The expansion programme will take place on the existing land. Action has already been initiated to augment production at the Nangal unit and improve the quality of its product.
