PMO clarifies

NEW DELHI, June 25: The government today clarified that the meeting between Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and finance minister Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday was of a "routine nature". Sinha was not summoned by the Prime Minister.

The government also said that the it would be "incorrect to assume that the responsibility of pushing ahead the reforms process has moved on from Sinha to the Planning Commission deputy chairman Jaswant Singh".

When it was pointed out that Singh had sent a note on reforming the infrastructure directly to the cabinet committee on infrastructure, the sources said that, as deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, he had every right to do so.
