The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the benefit of forward cover on incremental equity investments by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to cover appreciation in the market value of existing investments. This is in addition to the permission granted to FIIs to take forward cover for their incremental equity investment from June 11.

"On-tap" govt stocks herald a higher interest rate regime
The Centre on Tuesday offered to sell two "on-tap" bonds of 10-year and six-year maturities at a coupon of 12.10% and 11.75%, respectively. This is a clear signal that interest rates are heading northwards in the medium- and the long-terms as coupons on both the securities have been jacked up substantially. While the coupon for the ten-year paper has been hiked by 10 basis points, the yield on the six-year paper has gone up by 25 basis points.
