NEW DELHI, May 19: The government has decided to increase the retirement age of the central public sector undertakings employees from 58 years to 60 years. The government had earlier raised the retirement age of the central government employees including those working with the railways, defence, telecommunication and posts.The decision to increase the retirement age for below the board level employees of the public sector enterprise will come into force with amendments in the rules and regulations of the concerned enterprise.
Simultaneously the government has decided to put a complete ban on extension of services in the CPSUs beyond the age of supernnauation of 60 years.
The relevant rules and regulations of the public sector undertakings will be amended accordingly. The decision, however, shall not apply in case of those employees who have already retired in accordance with earlier rules, and who are on extension in the service on the date of issue of these instructions or those who are governed byspecific rules or regulations.
