Diesel price cut by 15 paise in city: The price of diesel has been reduced by 14 paise per litre in Delhi and Calcutta and about 15 paise per litre in Mumbai and Calcutta, it was announced on Tuesday. The actual pricing in different markets, with effect from Tuesday midnight, will depend on sales tax and local levies. This drop takes into account the prevailing trend in international prices as well as rupee-dollar exchange rate.

Retirement age up: The government on Tuesday decided to enhance the retirement age of central public sector enterprises employees from 58 to 60 years. An official announcement said this would not apply in the cases of those employees already retired or those who were on extension in service or those who were governed by specific rules and regulations.

MTNL plans indefinite stir: MTNL staff union and Kamgaar Sangh on Tuesday threatened to launch an indefinite strike from May 26 in Delhi and Mumbai if their long-pending demands were not met by then.

Stateagro package: Maharashtra chief minister Manohar Joshi on Tuesday said the state government will announce a new package of financial assistance for the scarcity-hit farmers of the state in the next couple of days.
