Railways approves Eurotrain pass plan: The railway ministry has approved a proposal from Eurotrain International of Denmark to introduce explorer pass on Indian Railways. The pass will be sold to foreign nationals and non-resident Indians against payment in foreign exchange. Under the scheme, the pass holder has to get the pass exchanged with the existing Indrail pass before travelling in the Indian Railways. An agreement on this is to be signed soon, according to an official release. These passes are sold at important stations in India and in 13 countries. The network of Indrail pass is being extended, in collaboration with Air India and Indian Airlines."Made in India" show in Johannesburg: The first "Made In India" show in Johannesburg (South Africa) has been inaugurated on Wednesday. The show was inaugurated by the former premier of Gauteng Province Tokyo Sexwale. The show, which has been jointly organised by High Commission of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), featuresover 100 companies displaying the country's capacities in engineering, science and technology.
Hoteliers seeks minister's intervention: The hotel industry has decided to seek the intervention of tourism minister Srikant Jena following failure of talks with the director general of tourism to resolve the contentious issue of abolition of dual tariff structure.
Rising trend in exports: Exports have been rising since July of the current financial year notwithstanding the serious financial crisis facing South East Asian countries in the past few months resulting in a sharp devaluation of their currencies. Wisitex Foundation, Nowea International sign pact: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Wisitex Foundation and Nowea International, the world's top most instrument and exhibition organiser. Under the MoU Nowea would be the co-organiser of Wisitex 2000. Further, Wisitex and Nowea will develop a network with Interkama and Dusseldorf Asia, Singapore, organisers of ICAM atSingapore and MICONEX in China, will have close co-ordination.
CEU exporting its production: The Confederation of hundred per cent Export Units has exploded the "myth" that the units have been predominantly using their production for sale in the domestic tariff area and not exporting it and also that the EOUs have been enjoying the benefit of a duty-free regime in respect of capital goods imports.
