Goodlass Nerolac unveils `Colour Scrapes'Following close on the heels of Asian Paint's foray into the paint dispensers market, Goodlass Nerolac has announced its decision to launch its paint tinting machines under the `Colour Scapes' brand name. The company is expected to start with its tinting machines in approximately 100 outlets across the country, market sources said. These outlets will offer a range of shades from the company's existing products in enamels and emulsions. With this the number of players with tinting machines in the Rs 2,400-crore decoratives paints market will go up to five. The others are -- Jenson & Nicholson, Berger, ICI and Asian Paints. Goodlass Nerolac Paints Ltd is at present the market leader in the industrial paints segment with a 43 per cent marketshare, while its share of the decoratives pie currently stands at 15 per cent.
Hotel Leela, Ambassador get awards:
The National Tourism Awards were announced recently by the government. Winners include The Leelaand Ambassador Hotel in Mumbai. While Leela got the award in the five star deluxe hotel category for western region, Ambassador won its medal in the four star hotel category in the same region. Leela vice-chairman and MD Vivek Nair received the award from vice president Krishna Kant.
Talk comparing India with other emerging markets:
Placing India within a global context has become the latest buzzword in the marketplace. Giving a presentation on this aspect would be Professor Jonathan Story who teaches economics and political science at INSEAD. Story is also a consultant to various governments, international corporations, banks and service companies. Titled "Tomorrow's India-In The Global Marketplace", the talk would compare India to other emerging markets noting that the grass is not always greener on the otherside.
Exhibition on `international quality':
Another event in the marketplace to check out is the 8th World Congress on Total Quality. The event also has a international qualityexhibition being organised and promises to have the largest assemblage of quality gurus. The event provides you with networking opportunities while browsing through state-of-the-art tools and techniques to start company-wide Total Quality. The event which started on Thursday is on for another two days at Hotel Leela in Mumbai.
Government effort to boost carpet industry:
The government is hoping to give the carpet industry a flying start this year. Its annual event Carpet Expo begins in New Delhi where small exporters get a chance to seek international buyers. The carpet industry had earnings over Rs 2,000 crore in foreign exchange while providing employment to about two million rural artisans. This is the 14th year of the Expo which would be on till February 14th.
