Advantage Maharashtra may lure Rs 10,000 cr investments

Mumbai, Dec 28: Over Rs 10,000 crore of investment is expected to come from the `Advantage Maharashtra Convention' organised by the state government, according to chief minister Manohar Joshi. Talking to non resident Indian's (NRIs) from the Sindhi community at a dinner meeting hosted by the Priyadarshani Academy chairman Nanikrupani, Joshi said NRIs have an important role to play in the nation building process and the convention was organised to achieve this.
The investment of over Rs 10,000 crore is meant for infrastructure development process. He announced that on the same lines of the Advantage Maharashtra Convention the state is organising Agro-advantage Maharashtra in April next year. The main aim of the convention will be to invite private sector participation and mobilisation of NRI resources in the agro-based and food processing industries, which according to him has tremendous potential. While talking, Joshi rechristened cultural affairs minister Pramod Navalkar as `Pramod Navnani'.
Navalkar would be heading the Sindhi academy to be setup by the Maharashtra government within a weeks time.
