Asthana is GM (D Pb), SBI, Calcutta

Rajendra Asthana has been appointed general manager (D Pb) of the State Bank of India's local head office in Calcutta.

Asthana was general manager, security services, at Mumbai and handled portfolio management and foreign institutional investors' business before he took over the new assignment, says an SBI press release.

Asthana, who joined the bank in 1966 as a probationary officer, worked as regional manager at Kanpur, as SBI CM at Hyderabad, and as deputy general manager at the Ranchi and Mumbai zonal offices before being promoted to the rank of general manager in 1995.

Raina is CEO, Dabur-Osem Foods

Kartik Raina has recently taken over as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Dabur-Osem Foods joint venture. Raina was the general manager (sales and marketing) for the healthcare products division of Dabur India Limited.

Suresh Iyer has joined Dabur India Limited as general manager (sales and marketing). Iyer will look after the healthcare products division of the company.

Pugazhenthy takes over as ED, ILZIC

L Pugazhenthy, a metallurgist, has taken over as executive director of India Lead Zinc Information Centre (ILZIC). He replaces V R Subramanian, who retired after heading the centre since 1978.

Pugazhenthy, who worked with ILZIC earlier from 1974 to 1986, was associated with several leading private sector companies and also headed the Sponge Iron Manufacturers' Association as its director. Award for Sundaram FastenersCHENNAI based Sundaram Fasteners Ltd of the TVS group has received the Supplier of the Year 1996-97 Award from General Motors of the United States.

The award is in recognition of supply of zero-defect radiator caps for cars in the United States.

William Kraatz, director, supplier quality, Asia Pacific operations of General Motors, said in his felicitation address, that there were nearly 10,000 suppliers of components to General Motors, of whom only 170 met the quality restrictions, specified by GM.
