Twisted idea of competitiveness
India's competitiveness has been debated extensively ever since PV Narasimha Rao took the plunge into structural reform and wasted no time in formulating several policy and administrative initiatives. The MRTP Act enacted in 1970 specifically to curb growth in concentration of economic power was virtually put in the dust bin of history, with the thrust now only on control of restrictive and unfair trade practices.
