"Safeguard" duties for domestic industry soon

[Details] The government is considering levying "safeguard" duties to protect the domestic industry resulting from acceleration in the country's imports. Rules in this regard are being framed by the Union finance ministry.

G V Ramakrishna sceptical of achieving disinvestment target

[Details] Disinvestment Commission chairman G V Ramakrishna has stated that the government will not be able to achieve its disinvestment target of Rs 4,800 crore for 1997-98 unless it implements the recommendations of the Commission.
