Zinc futures up on global cues; spot demand
Press Trust of India: New Delhi, Dec 17 2012, 13:48 IST
Zinc futures prices rose by 0.40 per cent to Rs 113.55 per kg amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand today as speculators enlarged positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January edged up by 45 paise, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 113.55 per kg, with a business turnover of 75 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in December traded higher by 40 paise to Rs 112.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,242 lots.
Marketmen said apart from improved demand in the spot market, a firming trend in copper and other base metals overseas on the back of encouraging economic data from China, the largest consumer of metal, mainly led to rise in zinc futures.
