Zee president Jejurikar quits to return to M&M
Jejurikar will take over as chief executive — tractor and farm mechanisation, M&M, effective April 1, 2013, replacing Bishwambhar Mishra. Mishra has moved into a new role at M&M, taking over as director, Mahindra Institute of Quality, effective April.
Jejurikar joined Zee earlier this year to help breathe new life into the television network’s business, leaving his role as the CEO of M&M’s automotive division.
The news comes at a time when Zee television is embroiled in an extortion scandal involving the Jindal Group. Two senior editors of Zee television were arrested last month, following allegations by the Jindal Group that they demanded advertising in return for dropping an investigation into how the company obtained its coal licences. Zee has vehemently denied these allegations.
Jejurikar’s last day with Zee will be December 31. All department heads at ZEE will now report to MD & CEO, Punit Goenka, Zee said in a statement.
Jejurikar will be a member of the M&M group executive board and will be responsible for the tractor businesses of both the Mahindra and Swaraj brands. In addition, his responsibilities will include MGTL, Applitrac, Construction Equipment businesses and Asset Management (Capital Purchase) for its automotive and farm equipment sectors.
