ZEBRONICS TOWER SPEAKERS: Standing tall
In a short span, the Chennai-based promoter of Zebronics products, Top Notch Infotronix, has carved a place for itself in the Indian IT market with its innovative products at affordable prices. These include keyboards, mouse, monitors, webcams, headphones, multimedia players, portable media players, laptop accessories and more. It has now set its sights on a fast growing market segment—speakers.
Company officials reckon that in the last two years, the demand for sound systems has grown tremendously. And most of it is now digital music. With the spread of mobile phones and MP3 players, users are enjoying their music digitally.
I recently checked out the company’s floor-standing Monster Tower speakers. Sure, floor-standing tower speakers buck the industry trend toward smaller, visually inconspicuous speakers, but they are hard to beat if great sound is your primary goal. Tower speakers produce powerful sound with excellent bass, making them a great choice for serious music lovers and for people who want high-impact home theatre.
At first look, it becomes clear that these speakers have been
designed to cater to the taste of young lifestyles, that demand performance as well as elegant looks and aesthetics—be they music lovers and audiophiles, or gaming enthusiasts, or just casual users. They can easily fit in the most cramped apartments. The Monster line up comprises three models delivering up to 100W RMS of sound in a unique ‘tower-style’ form-factor that dominates the room.
We got the ZEB-T9500RUCF for a review. It is an incredibly sophisticated sound machine at an even more incredible price point —R9,999. It is very easy to set up and it is not heavy at all. Rap your knuckles against the side of the cabinet, and you’ll see this is one rock-solid design. With full wooden enclosures and a high-gloss piano black front panel, lending them an elegant look, these speakers are designed keeping in mind music lovers and audiophiles with their need for high quality sound, functionality and design. Simplistic tower design neatly stands next to a couch or in a corner without the need for wiring or large stereo components.
I listened to a few songs from my iPod Touch and the speakers generated powerful audio, providing a great sound stage. Tonally rich and inviting, and lifelike to be precise. Besides an MP3 player, you can also listen to all your favourite tunes from your mobile phone and computer in the comfort of your living room.
These speakers incorporate dual 8-inch drivers for low range, 4-inch drivers for mid range and 1-inch cloth dome tweeters for higher frequency for room filling sound. The drivers’ inherent stiffness, low mass and self-damping properties allow them to deliver clean, accurate sound. Side volume controls, woofers, front ports with LED display all come in superior chrome finish.
The Monster Towers have slots on the sides to play music directly from a USB device or SD/MMC cards, as well as built-in FM radio receiver. In addition, the speakers also support karaoke with two microphone inputs, and are equipped with a full function remote controller. The accessory cables provided enable users to connect their digital devices such as phones or media players through auxiliary input or use them to complement the sound system of a large-screen TV.
If you are into loud music and lucky enough to live in a place where maximum volume won’t earn you the wrath of neighbours, take a good look at the Monster range.
