Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will seek a trust vote in the assembly tomorrow, six months after his bid to power was halted by H D Devegowda's JD(S).

The motion seeking a vote of confidence to be moved by Yeddyurappa is expected to be a smooth affair as six independents have already extended support to the BJP government.

The BJP won 110 seats in the 224 member assembly, falling short of the magic figure of 113. The 66-year-old leader, hailing from the dominant Lingayat community, will take the floor test under a directive from the Governor Rameshwar Thakur. The directive followed as the BJP fell short three short of a majority and formed the government with the support of the six independents.

Though the BJP initially objected to Thakur's directive, the party later accepted it as they were confident of proving the majority in the house, in which the Congress and JDS have a combined strength of 108.

The Congress has 80 and JDS 28. The BJP has already inducted five of the six independents into the ministry with a view to insulate its government from political instability and also to ensure that the only six independent candidates who coasted to victory in the election are not poached by political rivals to destablise the government.
