Wipro CMO resigns, churn continues

The management churn at Wipro Technologies, the country’s third-largest IT services exporter, continues with its chief marketing officer (CMO) Suchira Iyer resigning in less than a year after taking up the role. Iyer, who has spent over 18 years with the IT major, replaced Rajan Kohli in April last year.

Wipro, which is yet to name its new CMO, in an email statement, noted that Shaji Farooq, senior V-P (advanced technologies, global alliances) will continue to have the overall responsibility of the strategic marketing function at the company.

Iyer, who has been reporting to CEO TK Kurien, has held various sales and leadership roles. Prior to her position as the marketing head, she was the country head for China and was responsible for sales and business operations across Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

“After spending nearly two decades at Wipro, Suchira Iyer, chief marketing officer, IT Business, Wipro, has decided to move on to pursue interests outside the organisation. The company will announce her successor in due course,” the company said.

Billionaire Azim Premji-led Wipro undertook a management overhaul early in 2011 by dismantling the dual CEO model by elevating TK Kurien to the position of chief executive officer in February 2011. Ever since Kurien took over as CEO of IT business, the company has witnessed large scale revamp and restructuring.
