Despite the not-so-glowing reviews, Race 2 has collected a neat Rs 76 crore in its first week. Director Mustan of the Abbas Mustan duo, defends his project and is confident that the figure will cross the Rs 100 crore mark
What has been the general response to Race 2?
Everyone we know have loved the film, especially the glamour and the stylish look of the actors. That the audiences have liked it was apparent when we went to watch the film at single theaters like Chandan and Gaiety in Mumbai. They clapped and cheered whenever actors like Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone came on screen.
Which actors have been liked the most by the audience?
The entire cast is being appreciated, but people have loved Saif Ali Khan the most because of his role, style and presentation. The song, Lat lag gayi is a hit. Deepika Padukone is the surprise element as she has never been seen in this avatar before. Many people have liked John’s attitude too.
The critics have not given it a high rating, commenting that the focus is more on the chiseled bodies of the actors and glamour instead of the story? The original Race, they say was better.
The story of Race was different and I guess those who have seen the original compared the two and could see the change. It was a deliberate attempt to stick to the basic space of having several twists and turns in the screenplay, high-flying
