: What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear MLTR (Michael Learns To Rock)? Yes. You guessed it right — Colours, Played on Pepper, Nothing to lose, Blue Night — some of the albums of the band. MLTR, the Danish rock band, to celebrate their anniversary, released Eternity, their seventh album, on February 1 in India by EMI Music India. The band comprises of singer and keyboard player Jascha Richter, drummer Kare Wanscher, and guitarist Mikkel Lentz, who spoke at length with Arunima Mishra in an e-mail interaction about their new album, fan following and a possible India tour this year. Excerpts:
Define MLTR...
A great deal of mutual respect towards each other’s opinions and ideas.
How is Eternity different from your earlier albums? Also, what’s the message that you want to spread along through Eternity? Which song is your favourite in the album
It is very special because we have for the first time looked back on our previous albums and used them as inspiration during the recordings. Also, we have recorded a few songs, written by Jascha in the very beginning of our career, but never recorded before. Mikkel has produced the album and we have released it on our own label. This is an exciting new step for us, and points towards a lot of new activities in our career and a lot of freedom, both artistically and business wise. The songs — The Actor, Sleeping Child and 25 Minutes defined our sound with our vocals. The type of lyrics is something that is unique.

Earlier, it used to be a bit difficult but thanks to the social networking sites that help us in being in direct touch with our fans, who mean everything to us. We are nothing without them.
MLTR’s music is described as the Scadinavian light meeting the classic international pop song. What is the reason for this description?
We were always inspired of the pop music from England and America in the late seventies and in the eighties.
As you have also performed in Bangalore (1996, 2005), Mumbai and Shillong in 2005, when are you planning to come to India?
We will do all we can to...
