WB govt gives nod to 12 cos for setting up industries
The West Bengal government today gave approval to 12 companies for setting up industries in the state, an official said today.
"Such an approval has been given in compliance with the state government's new land allocation policy, under which land will be allocated to these investors from the state land bank covering various industrial parks," Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Infrastructure, Industry and employment in West Bengal that met here today gave the approval. The companies name were not revealed.
With the approval, there would be a fresh investment of Rs 2,021 crore in the state, which would create direct employment for 7,842 persons, Chatterjee said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also held a meeting with industrialists and office bearers of nine Chambers of Commerce for suggestions before announcing the new industrial policy likely during the forthcoming Industrial Festival at Haldia under the banner of Bengal Leads.
The FICCI has already submitted a proposal for the development of the textile sector.
Industrialist Sanjeev Goenka said the Chief Minister was keen on bringing investment and industry to the state.
"She seeks support from all chambers of commerce and we pledged to cooperate with her plans and programmes," Goenka told reporters after the meeting.
