Kolkata:Criticising Governor M K Narayanan for questioning the transfer of police chief R K Pachnanda, Trinamool Congress MP Sultan Ahmed on Friday said he should “behave in consonance” with his gubernatorial responsibilities and not as a “former IPS officer”. “The governor of our state should behave like a governor and not as a former IPS officer. The government knows its duties and functions better than anyone else,” Ahmed said.
Govt move carries message for its servants: Adhir
Behrampore:Union minister Adhir Chowdhury Friday alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress was “hand-in-glove” with the mafia and Kolkata police chief R K Pachnanda was removed to send a message to government servants that political masters should be obeyed. “The transfer shows that either you follow the diktat of your political masters and ministers or suffer. The police will have to work according to whims and fancies of Trinamool ministers,” Chowdhury, the Minister of State for Railways, alleged.

Kolkata:The Congress on Friday demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of sub-inspector Tapas Chowdhury at Garden Reach in the city.
Three aides of TMC councillor held
Kolkata:Three associates of Trinamool Congress leader and local councillor Mohammed Iqbal were arrested this evening by a special team of CID from Raina in Burdwan district, a senior officer said.
“We arrested Churri Feroz and two others. They are close associates of Mohammed Iqbal. We are on the lookout for Md Iqbal and are confident of arresting him,”
