Rajkot: World’s leading car manufacturing Volkswagen today said it expects to double its sales in the Indian market.
“In 2008, we sold 1,566 cars in India. During this financial year, we want to have cent per cent growth by selling over 3,000 cars,” Neeraj Garg, member of the Board and Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars told reporters here.
Volkswagen India already has 25 outlets in the country and aims to take the number to 40 during the current fiscal.
The company sold 63 lakh vehicles worldwide that indicates that its products are highly acceptable, Garg said, adding that despite this the company is facing challenge in India to repeat its success.
Volkswagen has introduced two models-- Passat and Jetta -- assembled locally, he said, adding that a hatchback model Polo, designed to meet the requirements of the Indian market is scheduled for launch next year.
