AAP leader Kumar Vishwas will kick off the ‘Jan Vishwas Rally’ from Amethi on January 12 — even as the fledgling party is yet to make a formal announcement about the poet-turned-politician’s candidature from Rahul Gandhi’s seat for the Lok Sabha elections.

Vishwas is likely to be fielded against the Congress vice-president.

“Party leader Sanjay Singh will hold a meeting in Kanpur on January 5 and will leave for Lucknow to make a formal announcement of Kumar’s candidature. Party workers from Delhi have been camping in Amethi to strengthen the party ahead of the rally,” sources said.

On the rally, Vishwas said, “AAP leader Sanjay Singh and I will be holding a workers’ convention in Lucknow on January 11, after which we will leave for the ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ in Amethi on January 12.”

Meanwhile, Amethi’s AAP convenor Hanumant Singh, who also held meetings Thursday, said party workers are going door-to-door to create awareness about the rally.

“Small rallies will also be organised to spread awareness about the party and the rally,” Hanumant said.

“We are expecting over 50,000 people to attend the rally that will be organised at Rananjay Inter-College Grounds.”

AAP had oraginsed a ‘Jhadu Sandesh Yatra’ in Amethi on December 27.
