Public sector lender Central Bank of India's executive director Vijayalakshmi R Iyer is set to take over as chairman and managing director of Bank of India (BOI). Iyer’s appointment follows that of Shubhalakshmi Panse, recently elevated from the role of ED at Vijaya Bank to CMD at Allahabad Bank.
Former CMD of BOI Alok K Mishra had vacated the office of CMD at BOI more than a month back on October 1. Since then BOI is running without its top executive. The notification of Iyer's appointment is expected to be circulated in BOI within this week, while the finance minister’s notification was expected to be issued on Monday. Iyer started her career with PSBs in 1975 when she joined Union Bank of India and was with the bank for over 30 years, and in 2009 she joined Central Bank of India as an ED.
