Videocon Mobile Services, the company launched by Rs 25,000 crore Videocon Group, is all set to launch its LTE-long term evolution high speed wireless broadband service in seven circles including Punjab and Haryana from 2013 and has planned to invest close to Rs 800 crores in Punjab.

The company had launched telecom business in Punjab two years ago and it plans to further strengthen it by investing additional Rs 800 crores towards creating 100 per cent network coverage and cutting edge technology. The company has two million telecom customers in Punjab and about 25,000 channel partners.

Besides Punjab and Haryana, the other circles where 4G LTE services would be launched by Videocon would be Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh (West), Uttar Pradesh (East), Gujarat, Bihar and Jharkand.

Director and CEO, Videocon Mobile Services, Arvind Bali told media persons here today that “LTE offers high spectrum efficiency as compared with other available technologies. It has lowest spectral cost and high bandwidth potential. It would be capable of delivering high speeds on internet access to the user and would have cost advantages.

Bali said that “Punjab, Haryana, MP, Chhatisgarh, Gujarat, UP(East and West), Bihar and Jharkhand cover 45 per cent of country’s population”. He said that the company had re-won spectrum for six circles viz Gujarat, Haryana, MP, Chhattisgarh, UP(East and West), Bihar and Jharkhand while it already has ongoing operations in Punjab. He said that “the spectrum is paired and liberalized and it can be used to roll out next generation networks and services by adapting highly spectrally efficient 4G technologies which would enable subscribers to gain more efficiency using the same spectrum resources. Next generation network technologies enable about 30 times more data capacity than a traditional 2G network”.
