UT Police goes all out to secure city on Republic Day

In wake of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, Saturday, the UT Police has deputed police officials to ensure the safety and security of the residents of Chandigarh. The deployed force includes about 200 traffic police officials, policemen deployed in uniform and in civil clothes and the Home Guard volunteers.

In addition, quick reaction commando teams, anti-sabotage check teams and sniffer dogs will be checking the city in order to avert any untoward incidents and to keep a check on anti-terror activities.

In addition, (Police Control Room) PCR vehicles, police stations, and police posts officials have been asked to be extra vigilant during the celebrations in the Parade Ground. The UT Police has also made an appeal that if anyone finds any unclaimed object or notices any suspicious activity then the information should be given to the emergency number 100.

During the Republic Day celebrations, there will be certain traffic restrictions and diversions to be followed.

The VIPs and senior officers with authorised car parking labels on their vehicles shall be allowed entry from the round-about of Sector 16, 17, 22 and 23 on Udyog Path. They can park their vehicles in the parking area in front of the market in Sector 22-A.

The general public can park their vehicles in the parking area of Sector 22-B adjacent to Blood Disease Hospital, Sector 23-B, on the rear side of Neelam Cinema, Sector 17, in the parking of Football Stadium and in the Circus Ground, Sector 17.
