After a gap of almost nine months, the UT Administrator’s Advisory Council will finally get together on Friday in a meeting called by the UT Administrator Shivraj Patil to discuss various issues ranging from traffic, transport, education, health and security of the city. This will be the sixth meeting of the council and will include an additional agenda item ‘municipal activities’.

The Advisory Council has been discussing issues of traffic, transport etc., in most of its meetings, but without any solid outcome or solutions.

The members will once again weigh different proposals on possible solutions for the increase in traffic problem. Of the last five meetings, two meetings witnessed deliberations over traffic in the city, yet nothing has come out of the hours-long Advisory Council meetings in the past.

In addition, three previous agendas including education, health and security have been included in the upcoming meeting for discussion.

A presentation and discussion on UT Master Plan and Tricity plan is also included in the meeting agenda.

During the previous meeting, the Council members were asked to go through various proposals first and then come up with their suggestions on the issues of transport, education, health and security in the next meeting.

Sadly, the UT Administration has been ascertaining the viability of various proposed solutions for the past two years without even one being adopted. The 42-member Administrator’s Advisory Council was established in 2010.
