He asked the UPA government to publicly state whether it was agreeing to such an arrangement.
"India cannot become a military ally of the US," he said.
Terming the US army official's statement as "very serious", CPI National Secretary D Raja said, "India should strongly protest this and not succumb to any pressure. Such a thing should never be allowed."
He said the US armed forces have decided to "expand its exclusive influence" in this region.
"We are already fighting against all American bases in the Indian Ocean.
"The UPA government owes an answer to the nation on whether it would allow the US to station its forces on Indian soil," Raja said.
